A. IMMEDIATE LOCAL LEVEL ACTIONS - SW GLOUCESTERSHIRE

Stephen Davis, Chairman, The Heritage Academy at Cirencester College

The Heritage Academy partnership being established between Cirencester, Stroud and The Royal Agricultural Colleges, and private training providers such as The Woodchester Mansion Trust, will co-operate to take forward the seminar’s initiatives.

The Heritage Academy is investigating possible student pathways as follows:

The Heritage Academy team will seek to expand its partnership by opening discussions with the University of Gloucestershire, and will seek to build on the existing conservation and heritage courses already offered by universities within the region who already use the training resources at Woodchester Mansion.

The Heritage Academy Funding Council will seek a dialogue with the Rural Development Agency and the Learning & Skills Council, building on the outcomes and shared discussion of the One Big Room seminar.

Woodchester Mansion Trust will enter its new fundraising phase with a detailed proposal that illustrates an expanded role for skills training in line with the recommendations and standards indicated within in the NHTG report.

The Trust will also commence construction of its new student masons’ training lodge at the Mansion, sponsored by Renishaw plc, and broaden the scope of its search for similar corporate sponsorship.

Stroud College, with its well-established Construction Department, and the Gloucester Cathedral Workshop, with its masons’ yard, have recently joined the Academy network.
